Big Mike studies the squat of Professor Cooker Perkins, from the Sports Medicine Department at Pepperdine University.  Students from SPME 440: Neuromuscular Adaptations to Training, attended an experiential lab session at CrossFit Malibu last week.  Students and Professor Perkins focused on CrossFit Baseline- each getting an opportunity to do the workout and to coach their peers through the 500m row, 40 squats, 30 sit ups, 20 push ups and 10 pull ups.

Earlier in the day, the class had a unique chance to hear a lecture by Sean Waxman- former USA Weightlifting national team member and president of Pure Strength. He spoke with passion about the importance of knowing and being able to teach human movement; that with a combination of academic study and experiential understanding- good coaching takes years of practice and dedicated work.  Coming from a top-notch coach and a world class athlete, students truly heard this important advice.

CrossFit Malibu is proud and privileged to enjoy good relationships with both Pepperdine University and Sean Waxman/Pure Strength.  Thanks for your support and contributions to our community!
