CrossFit Games Sectionals... Blood, Sweat and Tears
Michael Stanwyck from CrossFit LA completing one of 15 deadlifts at 285 pounds (roughly 130kg), Mike (R) counting the reps as a judge for this section of WOD #3 for the weekend.
CrossFit LA hosted an incredible event in the Southern California sectionals this past weekend at UCLA's Drake Stadium. Three killer WODs- a chipper which utilized the entire bleacher area kicked off the weekend.
Saturday's final WOD was called "Double Down" and included back to back parts- the first was:
4 rounds for time of 9 squat cleans and 6 handstand pushups.
Part 2 started exactly 20 minutes after the BEGINNING of Part 1 and was a sort of "Backwards Jackie": 30 squat snatches, 30 chest to bar pullups, and 750m row for time. Times for part 1 and 2 were added together to determine winners of WOD 2
.
WOD 3- the final workout held on Sunday was basically a Heptathlon in 3 minute increments with 3 minute breaks between the 6 elements.
1) Row 3 minutes for total calories,
2) max rep 285# deadlifts in 3 minutes,
3) L-sit hold, max total time held in 3 minutes,
4) Overhead squats at 95#, max reps in 3 minutes,
5) max reps pull ups- one attempt limited to 3 minutes,
6) 800m run.
The winners were Ingrid (CrossFit LA) and Storm (CrossFit 360-Long Beach). Congrats to them- and ALL the competitors! See CrossFit Games for the list of winners and breakdowns of times, scores and standings.
